from the band:
Hospitality

One thing that people often associate with the South is hospitality. Good old-fashioned hospitality is one of the many things that Southerners pride themselves in. Personally, I have experienced hospitality in a number of places, whether it be in the South, out West, or overseas. So I don't think the South has a monopoly on good hospitality, but it sure has a hefty chunk of the market share!

Cam, Jess, Spivey, and I would not have made it this far in our journey as a band (financially or emotionally) without the wonderful hospitality that folks have shown us. Wherever we go to play, people are opening their homes to us by letting us crash on their floor, couches, or guest rooms, having cookouts and parties for us, or simply telling us where the best places are to eat. Such acts of kindness make our traveling much more pleasant. And we are what I would call "high-impact" guests - you know it when we're around! There are five of us and we have big appetites, smelly shoes, and a large vehicle/trailer (the Millennium Falcon) to park out front. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's like having cousin Eddie and his family over for the weekend, but it's pretty darn close.

This article is not a lobbying effort for folks to give us spare keys and the alarm code to their homes. Nor is it a request that they always have cookouts and parties for us when we come to town. We just want to say "thanks" to all of the people who have made us feel welcome in their hometowns when we come to play. It makes the traveling part of our profession something we enjoy rather than something we simply have to deal with. So from all of us in the Tishamingo Camp - Thank you and hope to see you soon!
